To alleviate the complaints of years and soothing bruises of centuries is never an easy task. In the grim conditions that Pakistan is facing owing to its role in war on terror and complex geo-strategic position, expecting any government to do overnight miracles in one of the most neglected areas like Balochistan is a folly. Despite this, the government has shown thoughtfulness in pronouncing its resolve in alleviating the deprivation of Baloch people through change in strategy. While making objective analysis, its important to count achievements along with failures in this regard, like the Aghaz-e-Haqooq-e-Balochistan package under which 5,000 Baloch youngsters have been provided employment and 20,000 more youths would be given employment in various federal departments, plan to connect Gwadar to Reko Dik, return of army and its replacement by FC as the longstanding demand of the people of Balochistan.
The provincial government of Balochistan (after the 18th amendment), NGOs and media should get galvanised and play their due role in devising strategies and plans to uplift the conditions of Balochistan.
