This is apropos a report on PIA published in your issue dated April 12 titled “Another dreadful year for PIA”. It is the callous mindset of our governments, be they elected, or dictatorial, towards the tax-payers’ money, which they waste without fear of accountability, that has been the cause for financial collapse of many state owned corporations. The main culprit for the fate that PIA is in today is the lack of proper governance. In spite of the vast potential of the airliner, loyal ethnic passenger market that it has and abundance of qualified talent that were available for recruitment, it has been run by inept and unqualified persons.
Irregularities in recruitment, promotions, foreign postings and award of GSA, technical stores procurement have become a norm and till to date nobody has been held accountable in spite of billions that have been lost. More funds will be sought and given only to be wasted because.
