The Sindh government once again imposed ban on pillion riding for seven days.
This announcement was made after 11:00 pm on 16th January 2011 (Sunday night) when most of the people had gone to sleep due to chilling weather.
Initially, people of Karachi were misguided by the media when it was announced that ban will remain in force from 9:00 pm to 5:00 am.
After 11:00 pm, the Sindh government came up with the announcement that ban has been imposed for 24 hours for seven days. More than 600 people were arrested by Sindh police the next morning for disobeying pillion riding ban. Many victims of the pillion riding ban were not aware of the Sindh government orders and their relatives who came to their rescue had to pay heavy bribes.
On one hand, our police has miserably failed to maintain law and order in the city and on the other they are arresting the innocent, unaware citizens.
