The recent clash of militants with local tribal lashkar volunteers in Orakzai serves as an encouraging example of how the local people are assisting the authorities in protecting the area against these extremist elements. Reportedly, the lashkar took the militants to task and three of the militant commanders were killed. This also shows the sentiments of the locals against these terrorists, negating the impression that the Taliban apologists have been creating. These tribesmen realise that they are not only fighting the war for the authority of the state, but a victory in this war is crucial if they want to have a bright future for their next generation.
