It is encouraging to know that the officials, especially in Punjab have realised the demoralised status of the Punjab Police after the incident at Punjab Assembly. The students and teachers were able to breach the assembly during a protest. It has been reported that a couple of ministers and senior police officials of Punjab in a meeting have admitted to the dire situation of the police morale due to neglect and political interference.
Perhaps this realization and admission is the first step towards actively reforming the prevalent police culture in the country. It is hoped that our state officials will now take serious measures to return this institution to its honourable status.
