City govt goes for head start in spreading road safety awareness

KARACHI - Students from class I to IV in the City District Government Karachi (CDGK) schools will be taught about road safety, emergency, disaster and rescue issues in their curriculum. KARACHI - The City District Government Karachi (CDGK)'s two-day public awareness campaign on road safety will start today (Wednesday). LAHORE - The The Lahore Bachao Tehreek protested against the tree felling on Ferozepur Road, on Tuesday at the Lahore Press Club. They stated that it was a sad day in the history of Lahore. 3 brothers killed in road accident

GUJRANWALA - Three brothers were killed instantly after a road accident at Pasrur Road. Reportedly, Nasir, Shahid and Gulraiz were coming from Talwandi Musa Khan to Gujranwala on a motorcycle. When they reached near village Gaggarkay, a speedy passenger van crushed them to death. A large number of villagers gathered there and informed the police about the incident. Rescue 1122 also reached the spot and shifted their dead bodies to the district headquarters hospital.

22 killed in Brazilian road accident

RIO DE JANEIRO - A truck and a bus collided in the southern state of Santa Catarina Saturday, killing at least 22 people as Brazil celebrated Carnival, Folha de Sao Paulo reported.
Police told the daily the bus was carrying 47 passengers when it struck a truck near the town of Descanso, 690 kilometers (430 miles) west of the state capital of Florianopolis near Brazil's border with Argentina.
