‘Regional peace can resolve Afghan refugees’ issue’

PESHAWAR - Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Minister Mian Iftikhar Hussain has urged the need to make the regional law and order atmosphere conducive and rehabilitate the affected socio-economic infrastructure which can ensure settlement of the Afghan refugees' issue.
"We endorse the decision of allowing the registered Afghan refugees to stay here till December 2012, but permitting them permanent settlement is possible," remarked Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Minister Mian

Hopes fade for 150 refugees lost at sea

ROME - Hopes faded on Thursday for some 150 African refugees fleeing Libya whose boat capsized in the middle of the Mediterranean in stormy weather, a day after 53 survivors were plucked from the sea.

ISLAMABAD - The Somali refugees on Monday staged a protest demonstration against the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and the affiliated NGOs accusing them of violating their fundamental human rights in Pakistan.
