SC dismisses quake-hit police constable’s plea
ISLAMABAD - The SC dismissed a petition filed by an Islamabad Police constable on Tuesday who was an affecttee in 2005's earthquake and seeking his service's restoration.

Police bust gang of car thieves
LAHORE - Lahore Iqbal Town Division anti-Vehicles Lifting Staff (AVLS) on Tuesday claimed arresting notorious ringleader of the Tariq Javeed Shah car thief gang and recovered 13 cars, a tractor and motorcycle worth Rs 7.4 million from their possession.
The criminal confessed stealing 12 cars, one tractor and motorcycle from Lahore, two cars from Mirpur, Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) and five cars from Rawalpindi during preliminary interrogation.

ISLAMABAD - The capital police handled 786 gatherings during the current year, said Inspector General of Police (IGP) Syed Kaleem Imam in a press statement issued here on Monday. "Remaining firm to their basic objective of maintaining law and order, Islamabad police personnel handled around 46 political gatherings, 95 religious events, 75 trade union activities, 45 events of lawyer, 440 miscellaneous activities including 72 functions, receptions and 13 major events," said the IGP.

LAHORE - Ghaziabad Police failed to arrest the killers of a trader who killed for the ransom a month ago. Relatives of the deceased requested to the authorities for the justice.

Police bust robber gang
LAHORE - Factory Area and Defence Police on Thursday claimed to have arrested 10 members of the Zafar Iqbal, Sadriq Masih and Zeeshan alias Shani dacoit gangs including their ringleaders and recovered Rs 0.375 million in cash, four motorcycles, six cellular phones, five pistols and bullets from their procession.

ISLAMABAD: Police on Wednesday arrested two senior police officers in court on orders of an Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) judge for their alleged involvement in the assassination of Benazir Bhutto.
ATC Judge Rana Nisar Ahmed, who was conducting the trial in Adiala Jail, Rawalpindi, rejected the bail applications of former city police officer (CPO) Saud Aziz and former superintendent of police Khurram Shahzad, ordering their immediate arrest.

ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Monday referred two more cases of lawmakers' fake degrees to the police officials concerned for registration of criminal cases against them. SOFIA: Prime Minister Boiko Borisov called on Wednesday for the sacking of 45 top diplomats identified by an historical commission as having been secret police agents under pre-1990 communist rule.
