DIG inspects security for Muharram
LAHORE: Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Rao Sardar Ali Khan visited processions and Majalis held in different areas of the provincial metropolis on Friday and checked the security arrangements. Muharram moon not sighted, Ashura on 17th
LAHORE: The Muharram moon was not sighted on Monday and the Yaum-e-Ashura will now fall on December 17, 2010. Mufti Muneebur Rehman, chairman of the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, told reporters in Peshawar that no testimonies for the sighting of the moon were received from across the country. 41 clerics barred from KP during Muharram
PESHAWAR: Forty-one clerics have been banned entry to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) during the upcoming month of Muharram-ul-Haram to prevent any untoward incident, Pakistan Today has learnt.
According to details, a security plan will be developed by the KP government to provide maximum security to people. "The clerics have been banned to maintain peace in the province," a government official asking not be named told Pakistan Today.

Tribesmen resent Muharram security measures in Peshawar
PESHAWAR: The tribesmen on Friday rejected the district administration's security plane for the Muharram citing that it would deny them entry to the metropolitan.
They said it was discriminatory decision as it implied as if all the tribesmen were terrorist or saboteurs. On 24 November, the district administration had imposed Section-144 and banned wall-chalking, use of tinted glasses in the vehicle, pillion-riding and brandishing weapons at the public places.

KARACHI: The Crime Investigation Department (CID) on Wednesday arrested six alleged members of the banned Lashkar-e-Jhangvi (LeJ), believed to be plotting an attack on a procession in the upcoming holy month of Muharram procession.
