Karachi artists showcasing their works today

LAHORE - A group show of paintings titled "TRI" is going to begin at the Revivers Galleria in Gulberg on Friday evening in order to welcome New Year 2011 in an artistical way. US Consul General Carmela Conroy will be the chief guest and will inaugurate the paintings' exhibition which is scheduled to continue for a fortnight till January 22, 2011. On display in the exhibition will be about 36 selected paintings by three well known artists AS Rind, Mashkoor Raza and Salman Farooqi.

10 more Swine flu cases confirmed in Karachi

KARACHI - Ten more patients, including six women, were diagnosed with the H1N1 Type-A Influenza, commonly known as swine flu, in the city on Wednesday.

KARACHI - The first swine flu death of 2011 in the city was confirmed on Saturday. According to sources at the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH), Iftikharullah, 34, a resident of North Nazimabad, was admitted to the hospital on Tuesday with high fever, body ache, flu and some respiratory problems.

Two bodies of newborn babies found in Karachi

KARACHI: The bodies of two newborn babies were recovered from separate places in the city on Sunday.
The body of an infant was found in a storm water drain near the 4-K bus stop in Surjani Town. The body was fished out and buried by rescuers of a welfare organisation at the Mewashah Graveyard.
Another body of a newborn was recovered from a garbage dump in Block 2, PECHS. The infant was buried at the graveyard in Mawach Goth after offering funeral prayers.
