Exports to touch $22 billion, says Hafeez Shaikh

KARACHI - Federal Minister for Finance Affairs Dr Abdul Hafeez Shaikh has said that exports will touch $22 billion during the current fiscal year.

Pakistan achieves highest monthly exports

KARACHI - Pakistan has achieved its highest ever monthly exports figure of $2.127 billion in December 2010. According to sources, national exports during December 2010 were valued at $2.127 billion which was 35.9 percent higher than the level of $1.566 billion during the same time last year.
On the other hand, the imports during December 2010 were valued at $3.751 billion registering a growth of 27 percent over the level of imports valued at $2.908 billion in December, 2009.

Soaring exports ramp up rice prices

LAHORE - High exports have triggered a 25-30 percent increase in rice prices, market sources told Pakistan Today. Rice prices had stayed stable in the market in December as new rice (Kernal super) was available for Rs 2,800-3,000 per 50 kg or Rs 56-60 per kg. However, currently, prices have ballooned and are touching Rs 3,400-3,700 per 50 kg.
