LAHORE - The paternal aunt of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) chief Nawaz Sharif and Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif passed away on Saturday. She was the mother of businessmen Yahya and Farrukh Siraj. Her funeral was held at Ittefaq Mosque, Model Town which was attended by Shahbaz, politicians, family members and people from all walks of life. Qul will be held today (Sunday) at Ittefaq Mosque, Model Town at 4:30pm.

THE HAGUE - An Iranian asylum seeker died Thursday, a day after he set himself alight in central Amsterdam, police said.
A police statement said the 36-year-old Iranian, who was rushed to hospital with severe burns after torching himself on Amsterdam's main square Wednesday, died early Thursday. Police initially said the victim's asylum request had been turned down but they later indicated that Iranian had appealed the decision and that the case was still under consideration.

LHAORE - Mehmood, 45, a prisoner at Camp Jail died in jail on Wednesday under circumstances yet to be established. Mehmood was a resident of Pakpattan. Police were said to have arrested him over a dacoity case. Mehmood's heirs alleged Camp Jail police officials tortured him to death. The body was shifted to the city morgue for autopsy.
