Ireland slates plan to keep cricket team out of World Cup

DUBLIN - The Irish government promised full backing to their cricketers Friday in efforts to overturn their removal from the next World Cup, slamming the decision as flying in the face of sportsmanship.

Faisal asks FIFA Referees to supervise NBP Cup

LAHORE - PFF President Faisal Saleh Hayat has directed the current FIFA Referees of Pakistan to supervise the 21st National Bank Football Cup, to be played from April 14 to 27 at PMC Ground, Faisalabad.
All the referees of various categories have been asked to report to Match Commissioner/Referee Assessor for a Physical Fitness Test on April 13.

Top four seeds reach Honda Cup semis

LAHORE - All the top four seeded players moved into the next round of the Atlas Honda Cup in men's singles here on Thursday. They eased past their rivals in their quarter-final matches to reach the semi-finals.
In first match, Pakistan No. 1 Aqeel Khan beat Abid Mushtaque 6-1, 6-2. The second seeded Jalil Khan beat Imran shoukat 6-4, 6-3, while third seed Yasir Khan beat Waqas Malik 6-3 ,7-6(4). Shehzad Khan beat Heera Ashiq 6-3,7-6 (3) in the last quarter-final.

Zvonareva heads Russia’s Fed Cup squad

MOSCOW - World number three Vera Zvonareva spearheads Russia's squad to play Italy in the Fed Cup semi-final here on April 16-17, Russian captain Shamil Tarpishchev announced Wednesday.
Zvonareva, 26, a double Fed Cup winner, is playing for her country for the first time since appearing in the title-winning team of 2008.

PFF announce NPB Cup format

LAHORE - The Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) Wednesday announced the competition system for the National Bank Football Cup to be played from April 14-27 at Faisalabad.
