PARIS: Interpol called on Wednesday for the arrest of WikiLeaks' founder as the site's release of secret US cables laid bare international concerns over the safety of Pakistan's nuclear arsenal.
France-based Interpol said it had alerted all member states to arrest Julian Assange, who is wanted in Sweden for "probable cause of suspected rape, sexual molestation and unlawful coercion".
Assange's mother said she did not want her son, who has denied the charges, hunted down.

Bihari Qaumi Movement chief killed in Karachi
KARACHI: Aftab Malik, founder and chief of the Bihari Qaumi Movement (BQM), was shot dead on Friday in the jurisdiction of Pakistan Bazaar police station in Orangi Town, Karachi, police said.
An official of Pakistan Bazaar police station said that unidentified, armed assailants opened indiscriminate fire on Malik near his house in Orangi Town. As a result, Aftab and two other passers-by received bullets wounds.

LONDON: Diplomacy is not enough to stop Iran developing nuclear weapons, the head of Britain's foreign spy service said on Thursday, urging an "intelligence-led" approach to stopping nuclear proliferation.

A division bench of the Lahore High Court, Rawalpindi Bench, has summoned Zarai Taraqiati Bank Limited (ZTBL) President Muhammad Zaka Ashraf to appear in person on November 8 for contempt of court proceedings.
The court initiated contempt proceedings against Ashraf for misleading the public about the court, after a single bench declared his appointment unlawful and illegal. The division bench passed the order on a contempt of court petition by Muhammad Iqbal Khattak

The Supreme Court on Friday directed the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) chairman, former and incumbent officials of WAPDA and shareholders of Genco Power, involved in the contract deal for rental power plants (RPP), to appear in court on October 26.
The court allowed them to either appear in person or through their representatives, with the assurance that they would appear in court whenever it asked them to.
