LAHORE: The Lahore Accountability Court (AC) has handed over former Punjab Police District Police Officer (DPO) Kamran Mumtaz to the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on physical remand as he allegedly embezzled police funds during the financial year 2015-16.

It is vital to mention here that former Gujrat DPO had been arrested for his alleged involvement in the embezzlement of millions of rupees in police funds.

According to NAB Lahore, misappropriations of Rs550 million have been made in police funds during his appointment. The funds were embezzled using fake investigation of cases, bogus petrol bills, fake allowances and martyrs funds.

The suspected DPO was called back to Pakistan from abroad by the accountability watchdog for investigation after the case was transferred to Lahore NAB in a board meeting last month.
