ISLAMABAD: Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on Tuesday allowed British House of Lords member, Lord Nazir Ahmad to enter Pakistan but will have to leave the country after 72 hours.
Lord Nazir reached Pakistan late Monday night but was barred from entering the country over failure to produce the National Identity Card for Overseas Pakistanis (NICOP).
While talking to a private TV channel, he had said that the FIA kept him waiting for several hours at the airport and only granted 72-hour entry to Pakistan.
He further claimed that “as per government’s notification, entry in Pakistan is permitted on an expired overseas card; stopping at the airport despite government’s notification is unjust”.
“Civil services and government lack cooperation and coherence regarding rules and regulations,” Lord Nazir said.
