IHC moved against entry/parking fee at Benazir Airport

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) was moved on Tuesday against the management of Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) for colleting entry and parking fee from the citizens at Benazir Bhutto International Airport. In the petition, Raja Sami-ul-Haq Satti told the court that the CAA was illegally collecting Rs 20 to Rs 40 on account of airport entry fee from the people.
The petitioner also challenged procurement of FAR-23 Aircraft by CAA and contended that procurement of FAR-23 and some other Aircraft were against the procurement laws, which is corruption. He told the court that the people who came to the airport to drop their dear ones were being charged Rs 20 to Rs 40 whereas the cars and limousines belonging to the government or lawmakers were allowed entry without any charges.
He prayed to the court to stop CAA from colleting illegal and unlawful airport entry and car parking fee from the people. He also sought an appropriate action against all the officials of the CAA who caused losses to the public exchequer in the deals of aircraft procurement. Those who were made respondents were the CAA chairman, manager and secretary, Benazir Bhutto International Airport, the NAB chairman and the high-ups of the Ministry of Defence. The IHC fixed August 13 for the hearing of the case.
