Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Khawaja Asif on Saturday rejected reports of him fleeing abroad and said that he is in the US to meet his daughters and will return to Pakistan soon.
Speaking to a private news outlet on the phone, Asif said, “I am in the US at the moment visiting my daughters and will return soon”.
He added that media reports regarding him fleeing were baseless.
The former foreign minister’s family is already in the US, whom he joined two weeks ago after being asked to stay back by former premier Nawaz Sharif.
However, reports recently emerged suggesting that Asif fled the country to avoid being caught by National Accountability Bureau (NAB)
The PML-N leader is under investigation for money laundering and alleged corruption in the Nandipur power project.
