ISLAMABAD: An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) on Thursday, after resuming hearing of a case pertaining to the posting and sharing of blasphemous content on the social media sites, ordered the defence counsel for the conclusion of arguments as soon as possible as more than eighteen witnesses had so far testified in the case.

The defence counsel sought an adjournment in the case because of the absence of accused in the court due to unfavourable circumstances. ATC Judge Shahrukh Arjumand granted his request and adjourned the hearing.

The ATC judge also asked the defence counsel for completion of cross-examination of the witnesses in the next hearing for early conclusion of the case.

The case is in the court after the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) registered an FIR No 07/2017 under sections 295-A, 295-B, 295-C, 298, 298-A, 298-B, 109 of the Pakistan Penal Code read with Sec 11 of Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act, 2016, (PECA), 2016, and Sections 6(f), 7(h), 8 & 9 of the Anti-Terrorism Act, 1997.

The court adjourned the hearing till November 7.
