Govt working to provide shelter to needy people: PM

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan has said that the government is working on a project to provide shelter to needy people, especially those who are compelled to spend nights on roads and footpaths.

Talking to a delegation of the World Memon Organisation (WMO) here on Tuesday, he said that this is the first project of this kind is to be built on state land in Lahore, adding that travelers and needy people will be provided temporary shelter and a two-time meal at the location.

The PM asked the delegation if well-off people could start such projects in Karachi while adding that the government will benefit from the Memon community’s experience and capacity for the development and progress of the country.

He also lauded the Memon community’s services in the social sector and for the development and progress of Pakistan.

The delegation congratulated Imran Khan for assuming the Prime Minister office and said that his leadership is a ray of hope for not only Pakistan, but also the whole ummah.

It said that three million Memon community members spread across the globe will play its due role in materialising the prime minister’s vision for a ‘New Pakistan’.

The delegation assured the premier that the Memon community will help the government for the construction of five million housing units, besides providing support in health, education, and social sectors.

The community will also present a plan for the establishment of incubation centers to promote information technology in the country to the government.
