Southern Command Commander Lt General Javed Zia on Monday said no military offensive was being launched in any part of Balochistan, adding that law and order in the province was improving. “The Pakistan Army is not conducting an operation anywhere in Balochistan. The army, as a central institution, on the request of the Balochistan government is providing training and facilities to all law enforcement agencies,” Zia said while addressing the concluding ceremony of eight-week Police Anti Terrorist Training session held under the aegis of the Pakistan Army.
The aim of the training is to enhance the capability of law enforcement agencies so that terrorism could be countered with a comprehensive and effective strategy. Talking about the law and order in Balochistan, the commander said although the situation in Balochistan was improving gradually, it was still not completely satisfactory. He said Levis forces in Balochistan were passing through a phase of completion, adding that sense of deprivation was a key issue in Balochistan and when it was improved, law and order would also improve.
“We are hopeful that by August 14 this year we will be seeing an improved situation in Balochistan which will be felt by everyone, including the Baloch people,” he said. Zia said insurgency in Balochistan was fading out and all law enforcement agencies were working to improve the law and order.
