Brownfield briefs Malik on upcoming Pak-US dialogue

US Assistant Secretary of State for International Narcotics and Law William Brownfield on Monday briefed Interior Minister Rehman Malik on the forthcoming counter-terrorism dialogue between Pakistan and USA. He had called on Rehman Malik at the ministry of interior. The meeting discussed ways and means to curb IEDs use, in addition to bilateral issues. US Assistant Secretary of State for International Narcotics and Law William Brownfield explained the interior minister on the capacity building of explosive experts. The fourth ministerial-level strategic dialogue between Pakistan and USA will be held in Islamabad today.
Brownfield arrived in Pakistan on Sunday to lead the American delegation. He laid a floral wreath at the Pakistan National Police Martyrs’ Memorial to pay tributes to the police officials who had laid down their lives fighting terrorism. Speaking on the occasion, he paid rich tributes to the police, saying that the police had always protected communities. “They patrol our streets, protect our homes, rescue our children, confront criminals, solve crimes and bring justice to our communities. Whether it’s Islamabad or Washington, Lahore or New York, Karachi or Los Angeles, they are the bedrock of our communities,” he maintained.
