A contempt plea was filed against the Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO) by the Capital Development Authority (CDA) for allegedly violating court orders pertaining to the provision of new connections without no-objection certificates (NOCs).

Earlier, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) had ordered that new connections could only be provided after an NOC issued by the civic body.

According to CDA Additional Legal Adviser Amir Gill, IESCO Chief Executive Engineer Basit Zaman, Technical General Manager Engineer Khalid Nazir and Operations Director Raja Asghar were flouting the court’s directions.

“CDA with available resources and manpower is trying hard to implement the original master plan of capital city devised by an international architecture firm, Doxiadis Associates, which provides only a broader outline, framework for the new capital whereas it was the responsibility of the CDA to make master programme of schemes keeping in mind basic concept of the master plan,” the petition reads.
