ISLAMABAD: The residents of twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad on Thursday demanded of the quarters concerned to increase the number of female traffic wardens to educate female commuters about traffic rules.
Most of the residents said that with the presence of female traffic wardens on road, female drivers will have better opportunity to interact with them for seeking traffic guidance or getting knowledge on any traffic-related problem.
They said that with their deployment, they can be a source of motivation and there will be a message for other women that they can also do a tough job as these female wardens are doing and ready to face big challenges.
Nabiha Ahmed, a commuter, said that when she first saw female traffic wardens on roads of capital, it was a triumphant moment because it proved that women are capable of doing anything which is a motivation for other women.
She said that Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) should encourage more and more females by conducting training sessions for them.
“We receive appreciation from other women and the people,” says a female warden Ambreen Abbas.
She said that confidence is the key to dealing with motorists. “If you are working in this profession you should have enough confidence and knowledge to reply people’s queries,” she added.
Asma and other female traffic wardens said that there is no job that women cannot do and challenges need to be overcome to move ahead in life.
