Youm-e-Ali being observed today with fervor, reverence

The martyrdom day of Hazrat Ali (AS) will be observed throughout the country with religious fervour and reverence amid tight security today (Saturday).

To mark the day, mourning processions would be taken out in Islamabad and Rawalpindi, ‘Taboot’ processions will also be taken out from all small and big cities, towns and villages and ‘Majalis-e-Aza’ will be held at mosques and Imambargahs.

As many as 26 mourning processions are expected to be taken out from Col Maqbool Imambargah, Imambargah Fatimia, Qasr-e-Zainab, Shah Chan Chiragh and markazi imambargahs and also from the areas of New Town, Waris Khan, Civil Lines, City, Kirtarpura, Cantonment, Taxila, Gujar Khan and Mohanpura.

In order to avert any untoward situation, special security arrangements have been made by the Rawalpindi Police at tehsil level, where volunteers would provide additional support to the police.

City Traffic Police has already issued traffic plan for Youm-e-Ali (AS). Under the plan, 5 DSPs, 7 Inspectors, 65 wardens, 17 junior wardens would be deputed at different routes of the city to ensure smooth flow of traffic, the reports said. Pillion riding has been banned over security concerns.

Earlier, in connection with the martyrdom day of Hazrat Ali (AS), processions were taken out on Friday in Islamabad after Friday prayers. A main mourning procession was taken out from Sector G 6/4 and culminated at Sector G 6/2 while gatherings and processions were also taken out from Bari Imam, Sabzi Mandi and Golra Sharif.
