An application has been filed in the Lahore High Court (LHC) to question the display of banners to welcome former law minister Dr Babar Awan on appearing in the LHC to plead a bail petition on Thursday.
The application has been filed by barrister Javed Iqbal Jafree, contending that the Pakistan People’s Party affiliated lawyers, on Awan’s arrival, displayed banners in the LHC premises which amounts to making the premises a political arena and undermining the sanctity of the court.
The applicant urged the LHC Chief Justice Ijaz Ahmad Chaudhry to take cognizance of the matter and initiate action against those who put on the banners and placards in the court premises.
