The Lahore High Court on Friday sought reply from Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on a petition file by NICL scam accused Habib Ullah Warraich challenging inclusion of his name in the Exit Control List (ECL).
Justice Umar Ata Bandial directed FIA officers to submit Warraich’s passport along with relevant record in the court on July 4, the next date of hearing.
Deputy Attorney General Nasim Kashmiri informed the court that Warraich’s name was not on the ECL and that the petition was ‘baseless’. The court was told that, however, FIA official had Warraich’s passport.
On seizure of passports and documents of the petitioner’s family members, Justice Umar snubbed the law officer saying, “What was the sin of his family members who have been barred from going abroad?”
FIA’s Deputy Director Tariq Javed and Investigation Officer Basharat Shezad were also present during the hearing. Justice Umar
directed the FIA officials to surrender the petitioner’s passport before the court.
