ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan on Thursday said the primary focus of his government’s economic policies was to provide relief and opportunities to the lower class.

The meeting was attended by Federal Minister for Finance, Revenue, and Economic Affairs Asad Umar, Minister for Planning, Development and Reforms Khusro Bakhtiar, Adviser to PM Abdur Razzaq Daud, State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) Governor Dr Ishrat Hussain, Finance Secretary Dr Farrukh Iqbal, Dr Ishfaq Hassan Khan, Dr Naveed Hamid, Syed Saleem Raza and Saqib Sherani.

Expressing his gratitude to the participants of the meeting for joining the committee, PM Khan also said that well-respected experts, academics and practitioners of the field would help save Pakistan from the looming economic crisis.

Earlier, the 18-member council discussed the future course of action of the country with regard to the prevailing economic situation. It also discussed the collection of taxes, increase in exports, countering the trade and current account deficit.
