PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister (CM) Mahmood Khan on Friday said that he had directed for the accelerated completion of Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) Project Peshawar and other mega projects, expanding the resource base of the province, promotion of productive sectors in the province and efficient delivery in consonance with people’s aspirations as the priority areas of his government.
He was talking to different delegations, Members of Provincial Assembly (MPA) and others at Peshawar Chief Minister (CM) Secretariat on the third day of Eidul Azha.
The CM spelt out his governance policy guidelines, adding that the province is to be run under the vision of Prime Minister (PM) of Pakistan, Imran Khan. “
We would invest in human development and encourage boosting productive sectors in the province. Tourism will be promoted to become the mainstay of the provincial economy. Agriculture sector development is another area my government would work on. The youth would be encouraged and facilitated for their onerous responsibilities to take this province and country to new heights of development and prosperity,” he stated.
Mahmood Khan said that rapid industrialisation is the destination of the province. The natural resources of the province would be explored and exploited for the benefit of the people and province. Mass scale investment would be facilitated and infrastructure would be developed. The whole province would be integrated for expeditious development.
The CM said that good governance would be the hallmark. Corruption will be eliminated and merit-based decision making would be promoted. “The natural resources of this province would be the baseline for industrialisation and economic development,” he added.
Mahmood Khan assured to go all out for people-friendly governance in the province. The developmental fund would be judiciously distributed through a uniform development approach. Public sector institutions would be strengthened and justice would be done to everyone adding that under his rule. No one would ever usurp the rights of others.
“This nation has faced a lot of problems in the past because of bad governance. Our government would provide an enabling environment to every individual to contribute to the overall development of the nation so that people can stand on their own feet,” he said.
The CM assured for a new style of governance in the province. He said that he would prefer to be in the public and further cement the relationship between the rulers and the ruled. The yawning gap between the rulers and ruled existed in the past would be eliminated and there would be no obstruction in the accessibility to all services meant for the public. His cabinet would initially comprise of ten ministers and four advisors and their performance would be under constant scrutiny.
He called upon the journalists to share good ideas for effective governance and at the same time, his government would welcome constructive criticism that would remove weaknesses in the delivery of service, ensuring efficient governance.
