A Lahore High Court (LHC) division bench on Tuesday issued notice for July 5 to the Punjab government and the provincial services secretary on a petition challenging appointments of the Punjab Services Tribunal (PST) chairman and Punjab Labour Appellate Tribunal (PLAT) chairman.
The bench consisting of Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed and Justice Ameer Bhatti issued the order. The petition was filed by petitioner’s counsel Muhammad Afaq terming the above-mentioned appointments as illegal and unlawful. The petitioner’s counsel argued that PST Chairman Justice (r) Jehangir Arshad and PLAT Chairman Justice (r) Abdul Hafeez Cheema were appointed in violation of the National Judicial policy, which did not allow reappointed of retired judges.
