LAHORE: Punjab Chief Secretary Akbar Durrani on Wednesday inaugurated an exhibition of rare photos of the Pakistan Movement as part of Independence Day celebrations at National College of Arts (NCA).

Speaking of the occasion, the chief secretary said that holding an exhibition of rare photos by NCA was highly commendable. He said that the young generation must be aware of the fact that independence was a great blessing and its value could only be determined by a person who was deprived of it.

“This country was created after decades-long struggle and innumerable sacrifices. Pakistan is a gift for us from Allah. Every Pakistani living in this country should play his or her due role in its progress and prosperity,” he added.

He said that the main objective behind celebrating the Independence Day in a befitting manner was to give youth an insight about the greatness of the country, sacrifices offered for its creation and benefits of independence.

The chief secretary also said that every citizen could play his or her role in progress and prosperity of the country by acting upon the sayings of Muhammad Ali Jinnah. He maintained that a comprehensive plan had been prepared to celebrate Independence Day with national fervor across the province and ceremonies would be organised at provincial, divisional, district and tehsil levels.
