LWMC launches operation to make The Mall a ‘model road’

LAHORE: The Lahore Waste Management Company has launched an operation to make Mall Road a model road of the city in compliance with the orders of the Lahore High Court (LHC).

According to LWMC spokesperson, the company was providing extraordinary services that incorporated installation of additional waste bins, special manual sweeping, mechanical sweeping and washing as well as comprehensive monitoring of proper waste lifting through a video wall.

Speaking to media on Wednesday, he said that LWMC Community Interface Department was holding cleanliness awareness activities to sensitise the public regarding the importance of cleanliness and to avoid littering. “Cleanliness awareness campaign is being led by Ali Mazhar who is also monitoring the situation of cleanliness at The Mall,” he added.

Moreover, he said, LWMC’s enforcement wing has imposed fines to over 30 people, including shopkeepers, commuters and others, for illegal dumping of waste, adding that LWMC would run its awareness campaign throughout the year.
