Delimitation of constituencies bill referred to committee concerned

The Delimitation of Constituencies (Amendment) Bill, 2011 was referred to the concerned committee for consideration after it was presented before the Upper House of Senate on Friday.
Meanwhile, fearing that some assets of the ministries, being devolved to the provinces under the 18th Amendment, might be retained by the federal government, some members sought a briefing from Implementation Commission Chairman Raza Rabbani on the process. The bill was introduced by Law Minister Maula Bux Chandio. The minister also introduced annual report of the National disaster Management Authority for the year 2010.
Senator Sughra Imam, Haji Lashkari and Kalsoom Parveen expressed their fears that federal government was likely to retain some assets of the ministries being devolved. They said that there were many questions about devolution which should be addressed.
Senate Acting Chairman Jan Jamali asked law minister to arrange a briefing from Raza Rabbani to ddress their concerns.
Jamali also said that the issue of ministers’ absence from the senate session would be taken up in the next meeting of the advisory committee.
