Pakistan and India agreed on Friday to build convergence while narrowing divergence in finding a peaceful solution of Jammu and Kashmir, the core dispute between the two.
“Since people are at the heart of our relationship, therefore, our discussions must keep our focus on the people of Jammu and Kashmir and their connectivity in our talks,” said Indian External Affairs Secretary Nirupma Rao. Improving roads and other means connecting people across the LoC would be taken up by the working group in their meeting next month, she added.
She was answering a question on the issue of Jammu and Kashmir during her joint press conference with Foreign Secretary Salman Bashir at conclusion of their two-day talks.
Bashir said in this regard that the countries’ positions on the issue were very well stated and we discussed possibilities of increasing mutual understanding among us with respect to the issue.
