LAHORE: Pakistan all-rounder Shoaib Malik is just 11 runs short of 2,000 runs in T20 Internationals.

Talking to Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) media, the middle-order batsman said he did not know about this milestone before Scotland tour. “But I knew that I am the highest run scorer in T20I for Pakistan and I am very proud of it,” Malik said, adding he credits his hard work for such achievement.

He further said that the most important thing behind these runs is that Pakistan won most of those matches in which he scored. “I am feeling great but not satisfied because there is a lot to come,” Malik said.

Recalling the memory of his first T20I, the right-hand batsman said that he never thought that he will play for such long for the national team. “Consistency in hard work and performance is the key to the success and no one should think that he will set any specific record rather just focus on the hard work and he will achieve his goals automatically,” he stated.

Talking about his favourite T20I match, Malik said that winning the 2009 World T20 Cup was the most memorable moment in his T20 career. “The feelings at that time were dreamlike and you remember such moments for your whole life.”
