ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) workers on Saturday protested at Bani Gala outside party chief Imran Khan’s residence over differences regarding party tickets distribution for upcoming general elections.
“The party did not issue the tickets on merit, the workers alleged.
Dozens of protesters, gathered outside Imran’s house, rejected the issuance of the ticket to Ghulam Sarwar Khan from NA-59 and demanded that Ajmal Raja should be the party candidate for polls.
Meanwhile, PTI spokesperson Fawad Chaudhary claimed that the tickets have been issued to “strong candidates,” adding that it will not easy “to contest against our own candidates”.
On Friday, PTI announced the tickets for the majority of national and provincial constituencies for the general elections to be held on July 25.
Earlier, Imran Khan has said that tickets are being awarded on merit and it was impossible to entertain all the applicants.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has announced the names of its candidates for 173 seats of the National Assembly (NA) out of the total 272 seats and a sizeable number of tickets have been awarded to newly-acquired electables instead of old party hands.
The party has also released a list of most of the candidates for the provincial assemblies.
Some of more notable of the recently acquired electables by the party are, in no order of importance:
Noor Alam Khan, one of the richest parliamentarians in the country, will now be contesting from NA-27 Peshawar. He was earlier associated with Pakistan People’s Party (PPP).
Omar Ayub Khan, the grandson of former military dictator Ayub Khan and the son of Gohar Ayub Khan. Till recently from the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), he will be contesting from NA-17 Haripur.
Fawad Chaudhry, a former member of PPP. He was also associated with former military dictator Pervez Musharraf’s All Pakistan Muslim Muslim League (APML) and will be contesting from NA-67 Jhelum.
Ghulam Sarwar, a former Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid-e-Azam (PML-Q) member, will be contesting from NA-59 and NA-63 Rawalpindi.
Nazar Gondal, former federal minister and PPP member, will be contesting from NA-86 Mandi Bahauddin.
