LAHORE: The court acquitted former Lahore Bar Association President Naeem Chaudhary and three others in the murder case of their maid, Shazia Masih. Muhammad Naeem Chaudhary, his wife, son and sister-in-law were accused of torturing their maid, 12-year-old Shazia Masih, to death.
During the hearing eye-witnesses denied that they had seen the accused torturing Shazia Masih. Declaring that Shazai was not murdered and her death was natural, the court acquitted all the accused on the basis of statements of witnesses and medical report.
After the death of his daughter Shazia’s father Bashir Masih told the media that he was informed on Friday 22 January that his daughter died in Jinnah hospital and upon reaching at the hospital, the accused handed him Rs 15,000 of Shazia’s salary.
He said that her body had several wounds of a sharp-edged weapon, her right arm and ribs were fractured, her skull was damaged and her nails have been plucked out.
According to the hospital record the victim was admitted to the Jinnah Hospital Lahore’s emergency ward on January 21, 2010 and the accused declared her insane in the hospital admission forms.
The victim was moved to Medical Unit-4 from Emergency room where she died on Friday at 2:15 pm. According to Shazia’s postmortem report 13 out of her 16 injuries were inflicted by a rusted weapon and the rest were made by a sharp edged weapon.
The medical board constituted by the court said in its report that constant physical and mental torture and malnutrition could be the cause of death but the real cause of death would be ascertained after chemical and histopathology examination.
