ISLAMABAD: A 30-bore pistol bullet was recovered from the bag of a Spanish citizen at the Islamabad International Airport.

The passenger was set to fly aboard the Pakistan International Airline flight PK-769 to Barcelona but was stopped by the Airport Security Force personnel after a bullet was discovered in his bag.

The man, identified as Aman Masood, has been taken into custody and an investigation into the issue has been launched.

The Islamabad International Airport has been beset by problems ever since its opening on 3 May.

Passengers arriving to and from the Islamabad International Airport were welcomed with a set of difficulties at the new facility.

A dysfunctional conveyor belt, no Civil Aviation Authority help desk, non availability of internet and an absence of porters were some of the issues passengers complained about.

Some passengers were also reportedly told to sit on floor at the international lounges.

The airport was completed at a cost of Rs100 billion.
