ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar on Thursday took suo motu notice of tax cuts on mobile cards.
According to media reports, the chief justice has issued the notices to the mobile companies and the federal government.
Issuing the notice, the CJP observed that Rs 40 on Rs 100 mobile card is being cut. “Why the companies are taking such high tax on the cards,” asked the chief justice.
Justice Nisar further said that this is an issue of public interest. “The companies have to tell the types of taxes, they are implementing on cards,” he said.
The court will hear suo motu case on Tuesday.
