KARACHI: Sindh Minister for Sports Muhammad Bux Mahar stated that action has been taken against the responsible for mattress controversy during the 17th Annual Sidh Games.
The Sindh games, which were held from April 19 to 22, garnered negative publicity after a video of the poor quality mattress being used in the games went viral on social media. An athlete participating in the games almost fell to the ground due to the poor quality of mattresses, placed there for his safety.
Talking to the media, the minister said that mattresses were provided by the National Coaching Centre. “The action has been taken against the center for providing low-quality mattresses and some sports department officials are also being questioned over the matter,” he said.
He further stated that federal government made the arrangements for the event, not provincial government adding “we have learned a lot from this tournament.”
The minister said that to overcome such issues, the Sindh government is making an athletic track in Hyderabad.
