NAWABSHAH: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Thursday said that Pakistan People’s Party Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari is Sindh’s ‘biggest disease’.
The PTI chief said this while addressing a rally in Nawabshah — part of his party’s ongoing campaign for the upcoming general elections in the province.
Comparing the situation of Sindh with Balochistan, Imran stated that the latter had better living conditions than Sindh, adding that no example could be found across the country of the oppression faced by the people of Sindh. The PTI chief alleged that the local leaders were habitual of using the police force against the common man.
“But the people of Sindh should not worry,” he said. “This dark night will end for a new era to dawn.”
Imran challenged the PPP co-chairman that he was going to contest elections from Zardari’s electoral-stronghold.
Taking a jibe at Zardari’s marriage into the Bhutto family, Imran said that the PPP leader was to the Bhutto family what Captain (r) Safdar was to the Nawaz family.
Earlier, the PTI chairman reached Nawabshah on a two-day visit for ongoing membership drive of the party.
PTI Sindh President Dr Arif Alvi told media that Imran will arrive in the city at 2 pm and will address the party workers at Sheraz Chowk. Following the address, he will visit membership camps and address the workers on Traffic Chowk Sanghar at 4pm, Mirpur Khas at 8pm and Tando Allah Yar at 9pm.
PTI chief is also expected to meet the business community and other important personalities of Hyderabad over breakfast on April 6.
Imran will then inaugurate Insaf House at Jamshoro Road, accompanied by Mehfooz Arsani and Ali Junejo, and hold a press conference around noon at the same location.
After the Friday prayers, the PTI chief will meet Sindh’s journalists and editors at the residence of Hyderabad’s General Secretary Imran Qureshi.
Later, he will address a PTI women convention at Insaf House in Hyderabad. He will also speak to the workers at membership camp on Khursheed Chowk in the evening and then leave for Karachi.
