After a week-long protest of the Young Doctors Association (YDA) in Quetta, protesting doctors have resumed their duties at the out-patients departments of the public hospitals of the city.
The association decided to end their protest after the authorities concerned assured them that their demands will be met. However, despite the reopening of the OPDs, a protesting camp is still operating at the Civil Hospital.
On March 12, the doctors and paramedical staff had boycotted OPDs of different public hospitals across the city, citing inadequate facilities at the hospitals.
Balochistan YDA President Dr Yasir Khosti had remarked that the government was victimising doctors instead of paying heed to their demands. He had also condemned the false cases registered against members of the YDA and Pakistan Paramedical Staff Federation and demanded them to be revoked.
