ISLAMABAD: National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Chairman Justice (retd) Javed Iqbal on Friday took notice of not submitting the details of procurement, contracts and tendering of over Rs50 million worth projects by some public sector departments to the Bureau for scrutiny and directed the regional director generals to ensure submission of copies of such projects by the relevant departments.
Chairing a high level meeting at NAB Headquarters to review overall progress of the Bureau since he took over the responsibilities as chairman on Oct 11, 2017, Iqbal said as per the law, all public sector departments were duty bound to submit the copies of contracts of Rs50 million or above to NAB, including details of procurements and tendering process so that NAB may review and securitize the transparency in the execution of the projects under its prevention regime as per National Accountability Ordinance 1999, said a press release.
The chairman expressed his satisfaction over the performance of NAB and directed operations and prosecution divisions to make all-out efforts to conclude all ongoing complaint verifications, enquiries and investigations within the prescribed time frame after collecting concrete and solid evidence as per law.
He said the policy of “Accountability for All” is being followed across the board and now accountability can be seen to be done. The corrupt are being dealt with iron hands as the eradication of corruption from the country is the top priority of NAB, he added.
He directed NAB officers to perform their duties in accordance with law without caring about the position and status of the accused.
