LAHORE: A female teacher of the Punjab University (PU) on Thursday accused Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Punjab Director Dr Usman of creating hurdles in the way of justice and deliberately delaying her case against influential accused of cybercrime.

Lecturer Khujista Rehan of the PU Law College alleged that Dr Usman was patronising the influential accused, who according to her belonged to ex-PU vice chancellor Dr Mujahid Kamran.

“I forwarded the application to the FIA Punjab Zone against some teachers of the varsity including Dr Abid Hussain of the Institute of Education and Research (IER), Muhammad Shafiq of the Institute of Quality and Technology Management (IQTM) and Dr Shazia Qureshi, who is the wife of former VC Dr Mujahid Kamran,” she said and added that Dr Kamran was still calling the shots while enjoying his influence since many people posted on top administrative posts were appointed by him.

“But Dr Usman did not register the FIR, and instead created hurdles that affected the enquiry,” she alleged.

According to Khujista, Dr Usman belongs to the ‘lobby’ of Dr Mujahid Kamran and wanted no action against his men working on top slots in the varsity administration. Dr Usman ignored the directives from the FIA director general (DG) and did not take any action against the accused.

“I have moved several complaints against him to the FIA DG and also in the National Accountability Bureau (NAB). I have repeatedly visited the FIA office, but no one acts on my complaint. I am a pillar to post for justice,” said the apparently perturbed teacher of the PU.

She also said that two men chased her a fortnight ago when she was returning to the university from the Fortress Stadium.

“I was unable to identify them, but they were the men of the accused whom I mentioned in the FIR. The accused have approached me from different quarters to reconcile but I will not spare them,” she said and added that she had submitted an application to the Lahore Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) and Muslim Town Station House Officer (SHO) on March 5, but had not yet gotten any response from them either.

“I fear my life is in danger,” she said.

Khujista held Dr Usman responsible for all the woes that she was facing since the FIA official, according to her, had colluded with the accused and was not doing anything to bring the ‘influential accused’ to justice.

On the other hand, FIA Punjab Director Dr Usman rejected the allegations levelled against him by the PU teacher and said that an enquiry was carried out following the complaint. “An FIR was lodged against the accused and a report was submitted accordingly to the court later. It is up to the court now to decide if the bail applications of the accused are to be accepted or if they are to be arrested. As far as the FIA is concerned, the agency has done its job and has no further involvement in the case.”

He also made it clear that he did not influence the case as the enquiry was conducted by the Islamabad director general office.
