NAWABSHAH: Two children died while four others were admitted to the hospital in critical condition after being administered with allegedly expired anti-measles medicine in Nawabshah on Sunday.
The children are between the age of three and five years.
According to family members, the children were vaccinated against measles in a health drive in Saeedabad area, after which they fell ill and rushed to the hospital.
The children were vaccinated with expired medicine, the family members alleged.
Two children died after being administered while four others were taken to People’s Medical College (PMC) Hospital Shaheed Benazirabad in critical condition.
Meanwhile, District health officials denied that vaccine was expired and said that an inquiry has been ordered into the matter.
The officials further said that samples have been taken from the bodies of children and nothing could be said about the cause of the deaths at the moment.
