LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister (CM) and Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) Acting President Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday said that PML-N had served the masses tremendously and would win the next general election on basis of its performance.

The CM expressed these views while chairing Punjab parliamentary party meeting held at Chief Minister’s Office. Provincial ministers and MPAs attended the meeting.

Addressing the meeting, Shehbaz said that PML-N had emerged as the most popular party in the country. He said that Nawaz Sharif, through his hard work, made the party the representative party of the people in all four provinces.

The CM said that the people would definitely reward the PML-N in the next general elections. He said that PML-N’s public meeting in Peshawar reflected the opinion of the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and PML-N would achieve marvellous success there in the next elections.

Shehbaz said that the silent majority had given its verdict in favour of PML-N in Lodhran. The common man had defeated the owner of an aeroplane and palaces, he added.

He said that the multi-billionaire had been defeated and a common man named Pir Iqbal, who lived among the masses, had won. An evil effort of trading conscience remained unsuccessful in the past and would not succeed in the future and the prestige and honour of the party would be fully secured, he added.

Shehbaz said that he fully trusted the assembly members of PML-N and he and his team had served the masses day and night. He said that development projects of PML-N had made the opponents politically dead. The development projects were delayed due to sit-ins of Imran Khan, he added.

The CM said that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief had lied to the people so much that now he should constitute a party of liars. He tried to deceive the nation by uttering lies on every occasion, he added.

The Chief Minister said that saving of Rs150 billion in four gas-based electricity projects was a unique example in the history of the country. He said that thousands of kilometres long carpeted roads had been constructed in rural areas with an amount of Rs 90 billion which provided tremendous relief to the rural populace. Similarly, subsidised fertilisers and interest-free loans had been given to the farmers for the first time, he added.

He further said that provision of high-quality machinery and qualitative medicines in hospitals was another achievement of the PML-N government.

He said that rulers in foreign countries were even beseeched for the sake of country’s energy projects and the energy projects of thousands of megawatts capacity had been completed by working day and night. He said that all effort to affect the speed and quality of development projects would be unsuccessful and pointed out that PML-N had smashed the efforts of looting the mineral resources in Chiniot which were worth billions of rupees.

The meeting was attended by Punjab Assembly Speaker Rana Muhammad Iqbal Khan, Law Minister Rana Sanaullah, MNA Muhammad Hamza Shehbaz, Provincial Ministers, MPAs, Rana Maqbool Ahmad, Haroon Akhtar Khan, Dr Musadaq Malik, Rana Mehmoodul Hassan, Khalid Shaheen Butt, Dr Asif Kirmani, Kamran Michael, Dr Asad Ashraf, Nuzhat Amir and others.
