LAHORE: Nestlé Pakistan on Wednesday organised factory and plant visits for the public, journalists and key opinion leaders as a part of company’s effort to educate the public about the steps taken to make packed milk safe and healthy.
As part of their “Seeing is believing” programme, the company opened the doors to its Sheikhupura factory for a group of journalists.
Sheikhupura factory is Nestlé’s multi-product facility and the first in the country to be awarded Alliance for Water Stewardship (AWS) certification.
During the visit, Factory Manager Raheel Afzal and other officials of the company briefed a selected group of journalists about operations of the plant. Guests were taken through the entire process, from milk collection to testing, from processing to packaging. The quality and safety standards followed by Nestlé across the value chain were demonstrated in order to transparently address any questions raised by the visitors regarding the quality of packaged milk that was being produced. The group took a round of the factory and witnessed processing and packaging of other products as well.
The factory manager, while briefing the group of journalists, said, “Nestlé carries out multiple stringent tests at every level to ensure that the best quality of processed milk reaches the consumers. It ensures that all international standards of quality are met throughout the stages of processing and packaging.”
Nestlé Pakistan Corporate Media Relations Manager Madiha Javed Qureshi, while giving a presentation, said, “Nestlé is the biggest food and beverage company of the world, founded by Henri Nestlé in Vevey, Switzerland 150 years ago. Nestlé started its operations in Pakistan 30 years ago. Headquartered in Lahore, the company now has around 4,000 employees and four production facilities in the country.”
