LAHORE: Two international conferences being organised by UNESCO, Higher Education Commission and Institute of Communication Studies (ICS) would be held from February 27 to March at Punjab University (PU).
Senior subject specialists, researchers and journalists from North America, Norway, Malaysia, Indonesia, Afghanistan, Nepal and Bangladesh would take part in both international conferences.
Senior journalists and communication experts from all over the country would also contribute at the conferences. The one-day international conference titled “World Trends in Freedom of Expression and Media Development; A Pakistani Perspective on UNESCO Report” would be held on February 27 while the two-day international conference titled “Working Within and Against the Structures: Women, Media and Transnational Perspective” would be held from February 28 to March 1.
Punjab University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Zakarya Zakir, Ambassadors of Norway and Sweden, Institute of Communication Studies Incharge Dr Noshina Saleem, Dr Bushra Hameedur Rahman, Senior journalists Sohail Warraich, Tallat Hussain, Salman Ghani, Naseem Zahra, Mazhar Abbas, Tanveer Shahzad, Azam Chaudhary, Katrina Hussein, Humaira Awais, Nosheen Naqvi and others would also participate in the conferences.
In the three days, there would be a total of 19 sessions in which research papers would be presented and debates take place on different topics. The conferences would be unique because more than 100 international scholars, journalists and media experts would express their views under one roof.
