KASUR: Lahore High Court (LHC) on Wednesday ordered that a new FIR may be registered against former SHO Riaz Abbas and other police officials in the fake encounter cases of three people who were killed in Pattoki last November.

Seema Bibi and other complainants had filed a writ petition in the LHC stating that Inspector Riaz Abbas and four other police officials had arrested Jahangir, Hafiz Kashif and Akhtar from their houses, and allegedly demanded Rs0.5 million for their release.

She said that former SHO Abbas received Rs150,000 from the family and also killed the victims in a fake encounter. They appealed for the registration of an FIR against the accused but the Pattoki police told the court that the FIR had already been registered, on which the judge, Malik Shahzad Ahmed Khan observed that the FIR was registered on behalf of the police.

The judge ordered that a new FIR on behalf of the victims’ families may be lodged against the police officials with the actual circumstances and statements of the witnesses.

It is pertinent to mention here that Inspector Riaz Abbas is already in police custody in the fake encounter case of Kasur’s Mudassar.
