Awami Muslim League (AML) chief Sheikh Rashid Ahmed said Saturday that he will not take back his decision to resign from the National Assembly (NA).

Speaking during a programme on a private news channel, Rashid said that he would hold a public gathering in his constituency soon and leave the parliament in a graceful manner after taking his supporters into confidence.

“I will hold public meetings in both constituencies of Raja Bazaar (Rawalpindi) in the next 10 to 12 days and then I will resign from the NA with honour and grace,” the AML chief informed.

Replying to a query regarding his verbal assault on the parliament, he refused to apoligise and said that such a parliament should be cursed over and over again.

Rashid announced his resignation from the National Assembly during Lahore’s Mall Road rally held on January 17. The protest was led by Pakistan Awami Tehreek chief Dr Tahirul Qadri and witnessed participation of several political parties, including Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and the Pakistan People’s Party.
